FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CHICAGO – Today, the Illinois Power Agency (IPA) announces Phase II of the Illinois Clean Energy Dashboard, a significant expansion of the online resource featuring 23 interactive data dashboards that provide greater access to statewide clean energy data.
Created and maintained by the IPA, the Illinois Clean Energy Dashboard is a public data resource that enables users to explore Illinois’ renewable energy landscape and track the progress of the state’s clean energy transition.
“The Illinois Clean Energy Dashboard is the product of tremendous effort by IPA staff, which has built this tool from the ground up in order to expand public access to clean energy data,” IPA Director Brian Granahan said. “The IPA’s work impacts all Illinoisans, and this resource helps everyday citizens track and understand our progress in building an equitable clean energy future.”
Drawing on IPA, regional, and national data sources, the dashboard allows users to explore a wide range of clean energy trends. Visitors can compare Illinois’ clean energy progress with neighboring states, examine the state’s renewable energy generation over time, or explore where newly procured utility-scale projects are being developed across Illinois.
“When we first set out to create the Clean Energy Dashboard, we had a vision for fostering greater data transparency and understanding of Illinois’ complex clean energy landscape,” IPA Data Analytics Manager Abigail Ramirez said. “With the launch of Phase II, we are incredibly proud to offer a platform that more fully realizes that vision and that empowers users to explore the state’s ever-shifting world of clean energy.”
Phase II introduces a substantially enhanced user experience, including:
- 23 interactive dashboards
- 58 customizable filters
- 14 visualized datasets
- 8 searchable maps
- New datasets covering Illinois Shines and Illinois Solar for All Community Solar, and future capacity and generation trends
- Toggleable views that give different vantages of the data and help users visualize
- Mobile-optimized dashboards for improved accessibility across desktop and mobile devices
- An expanded glossary and updated terminology
The dashboard is organized into seven categories:
- Illinois Clean Energy
- Midwest Clean Energy
- Utility-Scale Procurements
- Illinois Shines
- Illinois Solar for All
- Workforce Equity
- (new) Illinois’ Renewable Portfolio Standard Progress, allowing users to better understand Illinois’ clean energy goals of 40% by 2030 and 50% by 2040
