IPA, ICC, and IEPA Announce Resource Adequacy Study Stakeholder Workshop

On January 27, the Illinois Power Agency (IPA), the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC), and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) will host a public stakeholder workshop focused on the recently published joint Illinois Resource Adequacy Study.

The Resource Adequacy Study, issued on December 15, 2025, was developed through a coordinated effort between the IPA, ICC, and IEPA as required under Section 9.15(o) of the Illinois Environmental Protection Act as introduced through the 2021 Climate & Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA).

The stakeholder workshop will primarily present and discuss the findings of the Resource Adequacy Study and offer an opportunity for stakeholders to ask questions on the study itself. Discussion during the workshop will be centered on the contents of the study.

The Agencies will also provide a brief, high-level overview of the mitigation plan process required under Section 9.15(o) of the IEPA Act, including anticipated sequencing and alignment with other related efforts, such as the Integrated Resource Plan development process required under Public Act 104-0458 (colloquially known as the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act, or CRGA).

Regular updates will be sent to the Resource Adequacy Study email distribution list. The Resource Adequacy Study executive summary, final study, data, and appendices can be found on the Resource Adequacy Study web page on the IPA website.
